ASLEF calls off tomorrow’s Tube strike

Tomorrow’s planned Tube strike action by ASLEF members has been called off after senior managers stepped in to resolve the dispute.

ASLEF members in the Barking depot voted 85% in favour of action on the District, Hammersmith and City and Circle lines after accusing “heavy-handed” managers of ignoring company-wide agreements.

The union says despite attempts by its reps to resolve the issues, managers refused to act until members voted for strike action.

ASLEF district organiser Finn Brennan told union-news.co.uk: “The solidarity of our members and the determination of our reps means that we have now successfully resolved the issues in dispute and ensured that agreements are adhered to.

“But once again, London Underground management failed to act to resolve industrial issues quickly at local level forcing us to threaten action to get them around the table. This is not the approach to industrial relations that our city needs.”
