British Airways pilots take second day of strike action
BALPA members working for British Airways are today taking the second of two days’ strike action.
The union reported that yesterday’s strike action was supported virtually 100% in a dispute over pay and benefits, with British Airways cancelling almost all flights. BALPA said the strength of feeling amongst pilots should be a wake-up call for British Airways.
Despite BALPA’s olive branch offer last Wednesday, there are currently no further negotiations planned and the strike action will continue until midnight tonight.
BALPA general secretary Brian Strutton said: “Pilots are standing firm and have shown just how resolute they are today. British Airways needs to start listening to its pilots and actually come up with ways of resolving this dispute.”
