CWU holds national rally outside BT centre in London

The CWU is today holding a national rally outside the BT centre in London to protest at the firm’s  proposed outsourcing of its facilities services division.

The union believes the outsourcing represents a mass betrayal of loyal employees, with profound threats to job security and Ts&Cs, and is telling BT it needs to stop playing games’ with the livelihoods of local employees.

The rally takes place at the BT Centre at 81 Newgate Street, London EC1A 7AJ from 12 noon to 1.30pm. Speakers include CWU general secretary Dave Ward and deputy general secretary Andy Kerr.

CWU assistant secretary Sally Bridge said: “We’d hoped that, by now, meaningful progress in talks with on the TUPE transfer would have rendered further public protests unnecessary – but sadly have come to the conclusion that insufficient progress means we have no alternative but to move to a national rally.”
