CWU members in Keynsham take action after colleague is sacked
CWU members working in Keynsham have requested a strike ballot to defend a colleague who was sacked earlier this week.
Details are being kept confidential to protect the individual concerned, but union-news.co.uk understands the member has lost their job at a difficult time.
CWU branch secretary Rob Wotherspoon described the sacking as “one of the most callous dismissals I have seen whilst working for the company”, later telling union-news.co.uk: “At a time when Royal Mail are touting their commitment to mental health the actions of their managers make a mockery of the positive image.
“Any of us can suffer illness and bereavement and we would hope for our employer to support us in these times – not sack us.”
