FBU slams Grenfell “buck-passing”
The FBU has criticised “buck-passing” during today’s opening statements to the Grenfell Tower Inquiry.
FBU general secretary Matt Wrack said: “We have little time for buck-passing from the businesses complicit in wrapping Grenfell with flammable cladding. They must all be held to account.
“But the more fundamental question is how the regulatory regime allowed those involved to make the decisions they made and behave as they have. The entire system of building and fire safety must be overhauled.
“More will come to light throughout this phase but one thing is clear from today’s shocking allegations: it was known that the cladding was not safe. Someone is responsible for the conditions at Grenfell which led to such a terrible loss of life – and they are responsible for the impossible situation faced by firefighters that night.”
